I feel like I was just telling everyone Happy New Years yesterday, and now it's only 2 1/2 weeks until Valentine's Day.  I'm not sure how I feel about this time speeding up thing as I get older.  But, I do know that I'm excited with this shop update!  If you want to be girly, there's something for you.  Or, if you feel like being edgy, there's something for you, also!  Take your pick!

Of course I had to save the vintage Dior piece for the end because it truly is fantastic.  The picture does not do it justice.  The construction and details of that piece is amazing!  Whoever purchases that will be one stylish lady!

Also, I wanted to thank all my readers for their kind words on yesterday's post.  I feel much better today after a quick, but scary dehydration fit this morning.  Stay hydrated and healthy everyone!

Almost Alive

So sorry for the lack of shop and blog updates.  I've been sick, really sick.  I feel so bad because it was my son's birthday this past weekend and because he and I have been sick, we weren't able to celebrate it to the fullest.  But, it was still good.

Today is the first day where I feel strong enough to sit up and write a blog post.  The last two days have been filled with coughing, sneezing, congestion, cold sweats, high temperatures- all the good stuff.   It made me realize I need to do a better job of taking care of myself- eating better, taking vitamins, sleeping more.

Don't count me out, I'm still planning on listing new items tomorrow!  For now, the shop has many Valentine's goodies stocked up and is having a small sale.

A Rare Occasion

My vintage Jantzen shades and my vintage bag that my husband decided to crop out.  Oh, and there's a bear in the back.  Hair's pulled back because I didn't shower.  Life of a mother.
I spent this past Saturday morning with my family, visiting the zoo.  That is definitely a rare occasion because every Saturday of mine is spent vintage hunting while my husband watches the kids.  I woke up this past Saturday and set out at the crack of dawn for an estate sale that listed some pictures of vintage clothes.  I've been having bad luck lately with estate sales, so I really tried hard to be early this time and just wait.  It worked!  I was the 4th name on the list and I scored some pretty amazing pieces, which will be hitting the shop next week.

This meant that I was able to return home around 10:30 a.m. and spend the day with my husband and kids.  I forgot how special and necessary these moments are.  Because these family outings are few on weekends, I must remember to capture them on camera whenever I'm able to go out!

I just love her hands in this picture.
My son is turning 4 this weekend.  It's amazing how much he has matured and grown this past year.  A few months ago, he would never have voluntarily touched an animal, let alone a hedgehog.
Love.
I wore my gold vintage shoes, seen here.  Realized it when I saw it in the reflection of this beaver exhibit.
I had a wonderful time with the family and although I'm sad I am not able to do this every Saturday with them, I feel blessed to still be able to be at home with the kids every day and to have a loving and supportive husband who does not give me a hard time for dumping the kids on him every weekend.  Vintage moms, when do you guys go and vintage hunt and do you take your children?  I've tried that and although thrift stores are doable, I just can't survive estate sales with both kids.  If you are a mom that can haul your children to estate sales, more power to you and any advice would be appreciated!

In honor of this holiday, the shop is having a special 2 day sale!  I am stocking the shop daily, so please stop by for new goodies!

When Five Isn't Enough

Etsy allows sellers to provide up to 5 pictures highlighting an item.  Sometimes, 5 pictures just isn't enough, especially when it's a dress and coat set as special as the one above.  This white cotton linen set has so many beautiful details on the appliques and buttons that I decided to highlight it some more on the blog.  The crochet appliques run all along the coat, as well as around the waist of the dress.  My favorite has to be the brass button clips on the coat.  This set truly is beautiful and can be found here. (with more pictures)  How gorgeous would it be on spring or summer evening, or at an engagement photo shoot, or a wedding rehearsal dinner?  I love white!

It's on sale right now, as well as the rest of the shop, until midnight tonight!

This week's shop update is full of pieces with little details that make each piece that much more special.  Feathers, pockets, a pretty print, hidden ruffles, embroidery, and hidden tags are just some of the details that contribute to the uniqueness of these items.  I remember picking up the last dress with feathers from a rack and thinking I was lucky to find this dress at the thrift store.  But, then I looked down and squealed when I saw the feather trim!  A lot of work had to be done to that dress to restore it, but it's so worth it, as are the other pieces in the shop!

All of these pieces can be found in the shop link to the right and everything is on SALE until Friday!  Enjoy!

7th Year Highlights

Today is my 7th wedding anniversary with the hubs.  Each year goes by faster and faster, and each year, I can honestly say that I do love him more.  Marriage takes an extreme amount of work, patience, love and so much more that I am still learning.  This year, we experienced much laughter and growth that came from tough times.  I am very thankful for this man and for our marriage and feel extremely blessed to be his wife.

The following aren't exactly highlights, but more like pictures where we are actually in together.  I realized that since we have kids now, we rarely take pictures of just the two of us anymore.  Last night, we celebrated our anniversary over dinner and a movie, and I forgot to take one single picture! Boo. Hopefully, I will remember to photograph more moments for our 8th year.

We're actually dressed up, on a date (at mo's old college roommate's wedding), and without kids!
Took the kids to see snow for the first time!
Our son turned 3!
Our daughter turned 1!
The hub's brother, my brother-in-law, got married.  It was beautiful!
My gf from grad school got married!
(family pictures rarely work out and why am I holding the heavier kid?)
We took our first overnight trip in years, BY OURSELVES! Best Vegas trip.

Love this guy!

Brighten Up My Day

There are a few things that relax me at the end of a long day.  One is drinking my pear cider.  Another is watching mindless tv.  And lastly, I love to paint my nails. Something about it relaxes me.  When I used to teach and not have children, I would get pedicures all the time.  I never bothered with manicures because they rarely stayed on for more than a day, so I decided against spending any money that went into it.

Ever since I had kids, I've stopped going to the nail salon to save money and because of the lack of time during the day.  I don't know what got me started, but I realized the other day that I've developed quite a collection of nail polish and I couldn't decide which color to paint my nails, so I decided to use multiple colors.  Here's the result.

Not too crazy since they're all somewhat the same palette.  I have yet to try nail art.  I think that may frustrate me rather than relax me, but I'm thinking...

Here are the nail polishes I used:

It's day 3 and none of my nails have chipped yet!

What do you guys like to do to relax at the end of the day?
