Here's the first half of this week's shop update. Once again, isn't that Dior piece stunning? The construction is amazing. I also love all the pretty details this week like the collars, print, and fabric. Which is your favorite?
I feel like I was just telling everyone Happy New Years yesterday, and now it's only 2 1/2 weeks until Valentine's Day. I'm not sure how I feel about this time speeding up thing as I get older. But, I do know that I'm excited with this shop update! If you want to be girly, there's something for you. Or, if you feel like being edgy, there's something for you, also! Take your pick!
Of course I had to save the vintage Dior piece for the end because it truly is fantastic. The picture does not do it justice. The construction and details of that piece is amazing! Whoever purchases that will be one stylish lady!
Also, I wanted to thank all my readers for their kind words on yesterday's post. I feel much better today after a quick, but scary dehydration fit this morning. Stay hydrated and healthy everyone!
I could watch these vintage fashion videos off of youtube for hours and the only thing that keeps me from doing so is that I actually have to tend to the house, the shop, and my children. I could make an excuse and say that I must watch these for research purposes, which is not entirely an excuse. But, I don't think my husband is entirely convinced.
Anyhow, I loved this video which showcases 5 of the top designers of the 1950s- Dior, Balenciaga, Chanel, Pierre Balmain, and Jaques Fath. I've always favored Dior in the 1950s, but my jaw dropped at the first dress shown for Balenciaga! I am on a hunt for the perfect 50s wiggle dress right now since I have some special events coming up this year and that would have been a killer dress to wear! Which was your favorite designer/dress in this video?
I do love when there is a vintage revival, but I have to admit, I don't quite fully like this season's Resort collection from Christian Dior. I love most elements like the scalloped edges, oversized bows, and tiered skirts. But, some of the looks scream "BARBIE" to me, especially with the color palette of bright electric pink. But, what do I know, right? What do you guys think?
This is my procrastination shop update. I've bombarded this entry with loads of vintage because I don't do any other shop updates throughout the week. Thank you for looking through all the pictures of lovely vintage!
I've been trying to add more variety to the shop lately, instead of just adding my favorite 1950s pieces. So, I've added some more accessories and items from the 1960s and 1970s that I would definitely wear if my belly weren't bulging. Hope you like them!
Also, my SHOP is having a pre-Valentine's day SALE, so please stop by! The sale ends tomorrow at midnight!
Lastly, I'm awaiting my 500th sale! Whoever is my 500th sale will get some extra special vintage goodies- 1950s gloves, vintage brooch, and vintage scarf! Can't wait to see who it is!
The 1950s is by far my favorite vintage era and Christian Dior did it so well. He managed to make beautiful silhouettes that hugged women's curves that embraced femininity while still evoking a sense of strength and power. Amazing!
Also, I have to admit, I am not a fan of visors, but boy does that lady wear it well and how modern chic does she look? The way she's wearing her Dior scarf is so fashion forward, too. If I could, I would look at these pictures all day, but I have too many things to do! Enjoy!
