Happy 2nd Birthday!

I can't believe Jonah's turning 2 already!  I still remember the day he was born and how protective I was of him.  It's amazing the overwhelming, unconditional love you feel for your child!  Now, he's turned into this wonderful, sweet, active toddler with such an insatiable curiosity for everything.  Being a mom gets better everyday and I feel so blessed when I look at him, even when he's crying, sometimes (because it's quite cute...sometimes)!

It's so odd because I felt like him turning 1 was such a huge milestone and thought he was such a big boy then.  But, looking back, he was such a baby compared to now.  He still couldn't walk at that point.

Here are pictures of him on his actual birthdays. I don't have one of him on his actual 2nd birthday yet because I'm writing this post at 1:25 a.m., while he's sleeping, but I think a picture of the day before will do.

Right after he was born.

His 1st birthday.  He had the huge Korean celebration, but that wasn't actually on his birthday. Here, he had roseola, and we had no idea. I felt like such a bad mom.

One of Jonah's many expressions.  He has an actual birthday cake for today, but this was just to celebrate with his uncle.

He can blow out candles now!

Not only is he getting bigger, but mommy and daddy are getting older.  Actually, I have no idea how I started to look older, yet my husband seems to look younger. And is it me, or do my hubs and I look alike in his picture?  Oh yes, and I'm 24 weeks pregnant here.
Here are some things he can do at 2 that I want to remember:
*He squints while he prays for his meals and mumbles weird words and ends with "AMEN."
*He LOVES puzzles and is pretty good at them.
*He can count to 11, but purposely leaves out the 6, then jumps to 13, then 20, then back to 11.
*He knows his alphabet and tries to sing the song.
*His favorite song is "The Wheels on the Bus Go Round and Round."
*He is enamored with all the Toy Story movies and can name all the characters from toy story 3.
*He is a scaredy cat, but doesn't cry when he gets scared- just grabs on tight to his mom or dad really tightly.
*He wears a size 8 shoe.
*He is very verbal, like me, and can put 2-3 words together now like "One more time" or "Umma, vitamins please."
*He pretends his Buzz Lightyear is a baby and rocks it, pats it, then throws it. I'm a little worried for my daughter.

There's so much more, but I just can't remember because it seriously is going by extremely fast.  I teared up today thinking about how fast he was growing up.  Sigh.

Anyhow, sorry for the long post again, but I just can't help being a proud mom!  Happy birthday to my wonderful son!

My Trip Back Home

Last week, I visited my family in the Bay Area.  These trips are always a true restful vacation for me because I have free, unlimited babysitting.  So, I took advantage of this luxury and went to the flea market at Candlestick for the first time, visited my alma mater-Cal Berkeley, and celebrated my son's 2nd birthday early with my family since they would not be able to make it for his actual birthday because of the distance.  I truly miss the bay area and hope to move back one day.  We'll see.

Loved being back on campus, but felt very old looking at the young 18, 19 year olds.
Felt especially older since I was big and pregnant.

First time at Candlestick, even though I grew up in the Bay Area.

Scenes from the flea market.

Wished I could put these in my living room, but had no idea how I would
take them on the airplane.

For my friend Cindy, who told me to look at birdcages.

Just made me smile.

Leaving the flea market.  Such a beautiful day. Sigh.

My son's birthday cake.  He's turning 2 this Wednesday! Time flies.

He's getting better at taking pictures.

I don't know why I'm encouraging this behavior, but it's so cute!

I Have Until May

Last night, I slept for 3 hours, woke up, and couldn't fall back asleep because my mind started swirling with all I needed to do before the baby comes in May.  I think nesting mode has kicked in.

This post is not going to be exciting or full of many pictures, but just a checklist of things I need/want to do before Jessie (the name I have for the baby for now) comes along.

1. Decorate her nursery.  I am in search on Craigslist and thrift stores for a bookshelf and nightstand and am looking on Etsy for cute little girly vintage fabric to just hang in her room and little vintage pictures, like this one, which I'm seriously considering getting.

2. I just purchased a new studio light set.  It's not one of those huge elaborate ones worth thousands of dollars, but will suffice for my bedroom and add some ample lighting.  I need to set those up and change my pictures in my shop out so I can have a consistent looking shop.

3. My walls are bare!  I need to put up some pictures and some mirrors in the living room, dining room, and entryway.  I really like these.

4. I would like my husband to paint a nightstand we currently have, so I guess it's not something I need to do, but something I need to ask my husband to do.

5.  My hubs said we need to wait on this, which is fine, but right now, we have a tiny little dining table that renders completely useless when more than 1 guest comes over, so I would like a larger dining table (thrifted or from a flea market of course) that has 6 chairs.

Now that I've written these out, I feel a little better.  It doesn't seem as much as I thought it would be last night.  Sorry for the boring post!
