Smile Break with a Little Rant

Last week was really tough.  Hence, the lack of shop or blog updates.  Maybe I'm bitter, but I've actually been feeling this for a while.  It really bothers me when mothers have so-called mommy blogs, but never touch upon the actual struggle of being a mom.  All I see are constant DIY projects, happy kids, balanced meals, and the occasional pictures of some clutter without a hint of losing their patience.  Or, they'll end with something cheery like "Gotta love them." Or maybe they really are that great of moms and human beings and I need to learn some patience and start drinking coffee so that I never sleep and can get done what they get done.  That's my rant.

For me, I needed a break and something to make me laugh.  I fell behind on everything last week- cleaning, groceries, laundry, shop, blogging... EVERYTHING.  Stress, especially marital stress, can be very crippling.  God is good and my hubs and I are fine now.  But, now I'm faced with all these things that have taken a hit to my momentary bout with lethargy and am scrambling like a mad women to clean the house, work on the shop, while being a good mom and wife.  I need to take a deep breath and just laugh at the above t-shirts from Snorg Tees.  The 3rd t-shirt is the story of my life and if you have no idea where the first t-shirt is from, you have yet to watch the smartest tv show ever- Arrested Development.

Hope I didn't offend anyone and hope everyone has a great week.

  1. Sorry to hear you've had a tough past week Anna. Sometimes things just get too much and we need time out. I hope things are better this week but don't work yourself too hard!

    LOVE Arrested Development! :)

  2. That's the thing about online presence...it could be highly edited. Those "happy mommy blogs" may not be the full story, but merely what the bloggers want the world to see and be envious of. Don't ever hold yourself to what could very well be a false standard. Ultimately if your kids are happy, healthy, and loved, you know you're a great mom and no one should tell you otherwise.

  3. I don't think you could ever offend, Anna! I'm not a mom, but I still enjoy your posts about your family because you *do* keep it real. (I love that Downtown Abbey graphic so much--I adore Carson!)

  4. Girl, marriage is always a work in progress. It's like being in school forever as a "super senior" and wondering when it will be graduation day! Ha! Hope you are able to take some time to yourself. - hanna
