Conversations with My Non-Vintage Husband

The other night, I turned on the classic "Breakfast at Tiffany's" to unwind after one of the longest weekends ever.  My husband comes downstairs and this is the conversation we had:

Hubs: What are you watching?
Me: Breakfast at Tiffanys.
Hubs: With Molly Ringwald?
Me: No, that's The Breakfast Club. That was in the 80s.
Hubs: Oh.  I've watched only 1 or 2 movies older than the 1970s.
Me: Which ones?
Hubs: Casablanca. It was boring.
Me: What was the other one?
Hubs: I said one OR two.
Me: Uh, ok. What's the second one?
Hubs: Does "Enter the Dragon" count?

Hubs starts watching and Audrey Hepburn appears: Who's that?
Me: Are you kidding me?
Hubs: What? Who's that?
Me: Audrey Hepburn.
Hubs: Oh. I've heard of her.
Me: What?? Anyways, isn't she pretty?
Hubs: She's alright.

Needless to say, he made my night longer instead of letting me unwind.  Still love him though.

  4. Haha! Oh dear! That's kind of sweet. :)

My partner is slowly being educated in the vintage and old movie way of things. He's so proud when he can guess an era and as for Audrey... he has no choice but to know who she is. LOL.

  5. This somewhat reminds me of a convo I had with my guy. My film taste is usually all about classic Hollywood, but I do have an undying love for a select few '80s flicks, like "Fast Times at Ridgemont High." We were seeing the Cars at a music fest and I said I couldn't wait to hear "Moving in Stereo" because it'll always remind me of Phoebe Cates and "Fast Times." And he had no idea what song it was. Is that weird? Was I expecting too much? Ha.
