At Last

At last, the weather has cooled down to the low 80s here in SoCal, which means it's fall.  I see the rest of the country pulling out their sweaters and boots on Instragram, and yes, I feel a twinge of longing to start layering and wear my boots.  So, I've been living vicariously through my shop and listing more autumn appropriate items.  By the way, modeling the autumn clothes while it's in the high 80s outside is actually not the brightest idea, even if the air conditioner is on.

Hope you like the items in the shop!  I'm on crazy listing mode lately, so check back daily for new listings!  Click here and it will take you to all these goodies!

Hair Inspiration

I need to do something with my hair!  I have never had hair this long before and I'm not quite ready to cut if off just yet. (Trust me when I say the pixie cut does nothing for my face.  I've done it before).  Here are some inspiring hair styles that are preventing me from chopping off my hair.  Surprisingly, these were all runway styles and seem quite easy to pull off!  Which one do you like?  I'm loving the first and last pictures especially.

Summer Uniform

This summer in SoCal has been one of the hottest that I can remember.  I recycle about 2-3 of the same outfits every week.  My outfits must keep me somewhat cool and allow me to bend over to play with my kids.  This maxi dress I thrifted is strapless, so it keeps me somewhat cool, but is long, which prevents me from worrying about revealing too much while playing with the little ones.

Also, this picture was taken by my little son.  He likes to take pictures and so I asked him to take one of me.  Not bad, right?

Outfit details:
Maxi Dress: thrifted
Coach Purse: thrifted
White strappy sandals: Cathy Jean

Anyone have a summer outfit they've worn repeatedly?  I think I may wear this one again tonight.  We're going to a baseball game, but it's still over 80 degrees.  Have a great and cool weekend!

Secret South

Have you heard of Secret South?  This Australian based clothing company derived from Secret Squirrel, also a wonderful shop.  These images and designs are from their autumn winter 2012 lookbook and I want too many things from there.  Their store reminds me of J.Crew, but with a little more edge. I plan on emulating the 6th and 7th look somehow.  I'm not sure how midi skirts will look on me since I'm short, but I love anything high waisted right now and want to try!

Which look do you like?

Mais Oui Vintage

images source
Aren't these images from Mais Oui Vintage inspirational and just gorgeous?  I came upon this shop after reading Aya's blog over at Strawberry Koi and I literally gasped when I saw the first image.  Then, I clicked through their entire collection and at the end, I wanted to see more.

I'm not sure what happened to this shop and if it's still running because when I click on their "shop" link, it turns up an empty Etsy page.  I wish i could just borrow these models. These images truly capture my little tag line for Revolving Styles- "Where Vintage Meets the Present."  When I think of the modern vintage women now, I will go back to this collection.  Also, I'm especially going to try to emulate these outfits, especially the 1st and the 4th picture.

Sigh.

Trying It Out

So I guess I haven't had enough change as of late because I went ahead and decided to start modeling items for the shop again and started creating photo collages for the shop updates.  Do you prefer the old shop updates with the larger pictures, or this switch up easier to view and read?  Opinions would be greatly appreciated.

Also, I'm not sure how much modeling I will do because I tried today while the kids were up so I could get good light and let me tell you, it was stressful and I was sweating after 5 minutes or so.  Somehow, every other shot has little kids creeping in. Love them though and they make staying at home and running 2 vintage shops very worth while.  Remember, I have another blog now!  Please visit and follow!

I Can See Clearly Now...

This past year, I debated whether or not I should open up a second shop.  Also, I was unsure about the direction of this blog.  I wanted to do everything with this blog- vintage and fashion inspiration while sharing about my life and kids and sharing recipes and adventures.  It became too convoluted and quite frustrating because I had so many ideas, yet a limited canvas to implement these thoughts.

After talking over with my husband about my frustration and our financial situation, it became clear that I could separate the two.  I don't know why I hadn't done it before, but it became even more clear when I decided to finally open up that second shop I had been debating over for the past 2 years.

So, now everything is ready to go!  You can see some of my shop above!  What do you think?  Also, my new blog, Revolving Kids Vintage,  is up and running.  This blog will focus on my mommy stuff- kids, outings, crafts, recipes, as well as shop updates from my little kid vintage shop!  So, if you'd like to continue to follow along with my daily ramblings about mommy life while running a business, please follow the new blog.  Right now, it's pretty lonely and in need of some love.  Thanks!

To celebrate the Grand Opening of Revolving Kids Vintage, you can receive 10% off your purchase until this Friday, by using code "GRANDOPENING" during checkout!  Also, follow along on the facebook page because I will be having a giveaway within the next week or two.  I'm so excited to have begun this journey!
