Lil Snippets & Giveaway Winner!

I usually post about my hectic schedule in the mornings, but I can't recall ever discussing what I do when the kids go down for their afternoon nap.  I make sure that they both go down around the same time, which really helps preserve my sanity.  During the quiet nap time is when I bust out the vintage and start shooting some pictures for listings. I usually have a 1.5 hour window before Jessie wakes up to prepare the clothes and shoot the product shots, which explains why I am only able to get about 3-5 items listed per day. 

So, here are the little snippets from today (or yesterday since I'm posting this at 12:30 a.m.)

1. A 1950s prom dress I steamed and took pictures of today

2. Choosing which vintage necklace to use in the product shots

3. Finally started getting some of the photo frames I thrifted up around the house

4. Jonah likes sitting in the corner of the couches and drink his milk after his nap

5. Jessie's weaning continues!  She's doing well.

6. More thrifted photo frames being put to use. Can you guess who's who?

 I don't remember the last time I had over 140 items in the shop, but I'm there now.  At the end of last year, I said I would make 2012 my best year yet in sales, but it hasn't been.  I know it partially has to do with the state of the economy and the changes made in Etsy, but I have a part in the low sales too.  I haven't been diligent about listing or hunting for vintage and it's definitely affecting the sales in the shop.  So, i've motivated myself again and am on a listing spree.  I'm not sure how long this will last because life always seems to get in the way, so I'm taking advantage of this new found energy and drive.  Hope you guys like the listings!

 Happy memorial day to those in the US.  Before I delve into some cute outfits to wear for Memorial Day and the upcoming 4th of July, let's not forget to remember those who have died for our country.  Let's reflect and honor those soldiers who have given their service to make this country one of the best countries to live in.

Wearing Revolving Styles Vintage

Sometimes, I am fortunate enough to have a buyer send me a picture of them wearing vintage from Revolving Styles, and I squealed when Emily sent me a picture of herself modeling this dress at a vintage show in Australia!  Here's what she wrote me:

I wore this dress to the Melbourne Love Vintage Show on Friday night, for their grand opening event. I also entered the Best Dressed competition, and your dress helped me win 3rd place! This event is the biggest vintage best dressed competition in Melbourne...

It's currently one of the biggest vintage shows in Melbourne, and the fashion parade was the biggest featuring vintage clothing. I was vintage from head to toe (except my stockings).

I really like this mid-week shop update.  Firstly, love the light summery color palette.  The weather's warming up and these dresses are dying to be worn!  Also, I rarely have prom or wedding dresses in the shop, but I added a few and can I say, I had some fun modeling the purple prom chiffon dress! 

This past week, someone on twitter or instagram (can't remember) made a comment about how Californians wear mini skirts with Uggs way too much. I have seen far too many of this California trend while living in the OC and I make the same grimacing look/sound everytime I see it.  It seems so nonsensical to me to wear lined boots with booty bearing skirts/shorts.  Silly little fad.  Just throw on a pretty dress!

My Fav Apps

I am not app crazy like some of my friends, but I do have my favorites.  These  are definitely apps I go to nearly every day, several times a day, and rely on in crunch time situations.  Well, some of them are at least.  The best part is all of these are free!

What are your favorite apps and do you have any that I should check out?

I love my instagram app.  I love looking at other people's shots and lives and I love that I can capture pictures of my own life, especially my kids, and have a little album I can go back to.  Follow me on instagram under revolvingstyles!

This allrecipes app is definitely the most useful one I have. I can mark my favorite recipes and access my phone whenever I need a refresher on how to make a certain meal, or if I have no idea what I'm going to make for dinner, I can use this app to save me.

I always look for vintage garage sales to go to on the weekends, so I love my craigslist app.  I actually prefer the app than the one on the internet because the app provides a little picture icon next to the sale description.  This app helps me plan my Saturday mornings!

I don't watch tv anymore except on Tuesday nights (Glee and New Girl.)  If I do watch tv, I stream everything off of netflix and I love that I can watch shows from my own bed if I want to.  I haven't used this app yet with my children in times of desperation, so I guess I haven't been desperate enough yet to whip this out.  But, it's good to know that if we're stuck somewhere and my kids are completely antsy or insane, I have this as a crutch.

I really have no clue about make up or any type of beauty products.  So, I love that this app has reviews and options on so many products out there and it's extremely easy to navigate!!

This shop update consists of many cool tones mixed with some warm tones.  Whichever your prefer, all the pieces would look amazing for the season.  I sort of gasped when I found the 1930s handpainted dress so that one would have to be my favorite.  The last black jumper dress just makes me want to go dancing and swing my skirt around!  Hope you guys like some of these finds!
